Main Purpose of the Role

  • To provide industry standard business insight (BI) capabilities in relation to Truphone’s various business activities, supporting real time management information fully reconciled to key financial and operational KPIs.
  • Development of analysis tools enabling allocation of margin to customer cohorts including impact of customer ‘adds’ (new business), ‘deletes’ (churn), ‘changes’ (renewal) supporting margin analysis.
  • Key insight for Wholesale Global Partner Costs including use / spend analysis for all of Truphone’s airtime partners including MVNO, bilateral agreements and roaming arrangements.
  • Evangelise the effective use of BI, tools, data and practices, deliver planned BI solutions to on-time, on-quality constraints.
  • Participate in the production, rollout and support of BI related solutions according to an agreed work-plan.
  • Participate in development and upgrade of Truphone’s BI applications, systems and environment.
  • This post holder will maintain and improve the current revenue assurance process and participate in the implementation of GDPR.
  • You will work as part of the BI team expected to deliver right first time analytical insight across specific areas of responsibility and be able to boil-down complex data scenarios and analytical findings into actionable information packs for Exec and Management consumption.
  • You will also support cultural transformation across the business in terms of improved data governance, accuracy and management whilst enriching business insight and providing focused actionable information.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing Truphone Commercial and Wholesale Costs analysis insight.
  • Support business users during requirements, testing & uptake phases to ensure effective adoption of BI solutions.
  • Establishment, care and feeding of an increasingly diverse central repository of business data.

Define and agree with stakeholders analysis and scope for Revenue and Wholesale Costs including:

  • Truphone’s MVNO, bilateral agreements and roaming arrangements; impact of customer related ‘adds’ (new business), ‘deletes’ (churn), ‘changes’ (renewal); customer cohort analysis including eg vintage, country etc; and
  • Key KPIs including ARPU, margin.
  • Agree with stakeholders the form and structure of periodic Wholesale Global Partner Costs business insight reports.  Deliver periodic (weekly, monthly etc) insight reports in line with agreed stakeholder SLAs.
  • Develop effective Wholesale Global Partner Costs exception reporting providing minimum fraud assurance.
  • Work with internal customers to ensure results are communicated and used effectively.
  • Apply BI best practice in your specific business area.
  • Assure data quality and promote effective business rules to preserve and protect data
  • Create tools supporting enhanced BI self-service.

 

Skills and Experience Required

Essential:

  • 2-5 years’ experience in Business Intelligence and Analytics in a corporate environment
  • Good experience of Microsoft SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS and SSRS BI stack toolset.
  • ETL experience.
  • Able to transform data into information into insight into action.
  • Ability to work flexibly within a team fulfilling an end-to-end range of BI delivery tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to adopt both technical and non-technical language
  • Ability to multi-task & prioritise whilst maintaining focus on each project.
  • Strong team-working ethos, self-starter; experience in working within fast-paced and agile organisations
  • Able to work in a mix of Agile BI and Waterfall BI approaches.

Desirable:

  • Experience in the area of customer revenue and assurance
  • Kimball technology experience and understanding - ideally
  • Mobile Telecoms experience with emphasis on financial data, processes and reporting.
  • Good organisation, reporting, presentation and facilitation skills
  • Database management experience
  • Program and scripting language, i.e. C#, VB, R, Python.
  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of big data, cloud technology or data science.
