Main Purpose of the Role

 

This role is to be integrated in Service Care Business & Operations Support Systems team within the Technology Operations group, acting as first tier support. The Business & Operations Support Systems team is responsible for monitoring and managing Truphone’s systems and network, whilst ensuring that the platforms and systems are performing under normal conditions.

The Core Engineer will aim to improve and keep high levels of service availability.

This is a specialist technical role that requires a transversal know-how of the entire Truphone systems architecture, applications, data and processes. Focusing on Cerillion CRM, Salesforce, ESB and Teoco products

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle and investigate troubles raised under the problem management process.
  • Resolve all cases related with platforms and services in production environments, according to the implemented designs.
  • Support, troubleshoot and handle software and hardware troubles in platforms and services in production environments, liaising with vendors and suppliers whenever required.
  • Availability for 24/7 on-call support.
  • Address internal/external support requests raised via the agreed processes and interfaces.
  • Perform regular systems assessments and proactively work in order to identify and diagnose service quality degradations or malfunctions before customers are impacted.
  • Contribute to root cause analysis and post-actions follow-through.
  • Routinely monitor and health-check platforms in production environments.
  • Maintain a repository of documentation, configuration and procedures to effectively operate the systems, platforms and services.
  • A flexible and pragmatic approach to problems and their resolution is required, as well as the ability to troubleshoot complex problems to quickly find solutions.
  • Responsible for the definition, implementation and testing of temporary fixes or new solutions on production environment.
  • Contribute to solutions design with operational inputs

 

Skills and Experience Required

  • Proficiency on IT systems (Cerillion, Salesforce, Red Hat JBoss Fuse & BRMS, .NET based Services, Teoco, Netact and others).
  • IP networks troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Hands-On experience on Unix/Linux and Windows Server administration.
  • Red Hat Jboss administration notions.
  • Strong knowledge of MySQL, Mongo, PostgreSQL, Oracle or MS SQL databases.
  • Ability to manage incidents involving complex networks, services and systems.
  • Knowledge of PCI security and compliance.
  • Power Shell programming knowledge.

Supporting skills

  • Versed in scripting and automation.
  • OpsView/Nagios exposure
  • OpenLDAP, Active Directory and Bind DNS know-how;
  • Working experience of SNMP
  • Knowledge of FM & PM platform integration (NetAct, etc.)
  • Experience with performance and capacity analysis methodologies
  • Having worked on a distributed virtualisation platform. VMware vSphere, vCloud and vCAC expertise.
